Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) and Datasphir Solutions Limited announce a collaborative pilot program to implement BonafID, an advanced Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution designed for research and education institutions.
BonafID provides an Identity as a Service (IDaaS) solution, utilising open-source software and cloud computing paradigms to elevate Identity and Access Management (IAM) within National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). The cloud-based system issues a lifelong identifier assigned by the first educational institution an individual visits, facilitating seamless transitions between institutions. BonafID empowers users to retain control over their personal data by adhering to a user-centric identity management approach, enhancing autonomy and data control.
UDUS is leading in the development of a shared virtual laboratory to foster collaborative research and learning. The initiative will leverage BonafID to ensure seamless access, showcase the Nigerian Identity Federation (eduID.ng) and align with the emerging federated identity management in the education ecosystem in Africa.
